Meeting #04 (November 21, 1995)
Time: 9:30 a.m.-11.a.m.
Location: Dana Porter, Tenth Floor Study Room
Present: Jane Britton, Amos Lakos, Sharon Lamont, Wendy, MacPherson, Ann Naese, Shabiran Rahman, Mary Stanley, Laurie Strome.
- Agenda Approved
- We did evaluation of meeeting held Oct. 31.
- Amos reviewed the Mission Statement of the Community Needs Assessment Process Group.
- A lively discussion ensued on the purpose of the group, on what makes it separate or different from the other process groups, and on how we can function in relation to them. A number of points were raised:
- we need to be a resource for assisting in developing evaluative techniques
- we do not wish to act as a bottleneck
- we need to be both reactive and proactive; reactive in that people should come to us for consultation as a step in conducting any sort of evaluation, and proactive in that we should take the initiative and try to ensure that people conduct evaluations before proceeding with actions or decision
Some ideas for how to proceed:
- look at the terms of reference for the Performance Measures Task Group and blend the responsibilities into CNAG
- we need to further formulate our operating principles but also need clarification on the role of process groups
Amos will take three questions to Library Council:
- What is the relationship between process groups and Library Departments?
- What is the actual responsibility of Library Council?
- What is the actual function of the Info Team? (Dept. heads that used to report to Bruce, no longer do, but still make decisions) and where are decisions being made?
- are process groups meant to be decision making bodies or discussion groups?
