- Davis Photocopy/Study Room
Sharon Lamont reported on the issue of the construction of new
washrooms in Davis Library. A decision has been made to build new
washrooms, taking over space from a photocopy room. The photocopy
machines will be temporarily transfered to one of the study room.
Result - Davis will have fever study rooms.
Concerns -
1 - consulting process between Facilities and other concerned groups
broke down. Client Services and Community Needs Process Groups
were not consulted.
2 - Community Needs Assessment Group has data from two surveys
which shows that students need and use the library for study space.
The large User Needs Survey shows that for 73.1% of undergraduates
use of study areas is important,
The General User Satisfaction Test Survey shows that 71.2% of Davis
respondents planned to use the library for study space, of those
69.2% actually used the library to study, and a large majority were
satisfied with the space they used.
Recommendations:
There is clear indications that students need the study rooms,
and the we have available the more they will be used. Priority
should be given to keeping the study rooms.
Photocopies should stay on the floor and new locations found for
them.
Action: Sharon Lamont will draft a propposal to be
reviewed by the group at the next meeting.

to be out in about 2 months. Some mild grumblings - mild.
