Community Needs Assessment Process Group
Meeting: #17 (April 9, 1996)
Present: Jane Britton, Amos Lakos, Sharon Lamont (recorder),
Ann Naese (facilitator), Shabiran Rahman, Mary Stanley,
Laurie Strome
Absent: Wendy Macpherson
- Facilitator:
Laurie will facilitate meetings from May until the end of August.
- Davis Photocopy/Study Room:
ACTION:
Sharon will prepare a draft proposal and email to CNAG. The
intent is that the proposal be presented at Council next Wednesday.
The proposal should include a recommendation for how a decision
such as this one should be handled in the future.
- Survey Reports:
Faculty survey -- Shabiran distributed a preliminary report on the Survey
of Information Needs of Faculty. This report is easier to read than is
the full report because of the simpler tables that are interspersed with
text.
Graduate survey -- Mary and Sharon pointed out some inconsistencies with
the data for Shabiran to check and requested some additional tables.
ACTION:
1) Each group will continue working with their portion of the survey.
2) Sharon will work on the introduction.
3) Shabiran will prepare the section on methodology.
- Council Report:
Amos reported that Meg & Jills report on the integration of the process
groups into the current library culture indicated that Council is functioning
less effectively than it might be. In an effort to work through some
of the issues, department heads met with Council to discuss the relationship
between Council, the process groups, and department heads. Some of
the issues discussed include:
-do process groups make recommendations or decisions?
-process groups lack resources for implementation (unlike department
heads who do have human resources)
- Meeting adjourned at 11:45 a.m.
Next Meeting: April 16, 1996 (9:00 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.)
