Community Needs Assessment Process Group
Meeting: #24 (June 09,1996)

- TUG System Implementation (Guest-
Susan Routliffe)
Susan discussed the project she is working on with colleagues at Guelph
and WLU. The group is examining each institutions circulation policies
with the objective of trying to establish some common ground. There are
differences between the libraries i.e. term loan, and circulating serials.
Susan approached our process group to assist her in gathering input from
the UW user community.
Action: Susan will supply us with a checklist reflecting circulation
policies for all three libraries. Our process group will then establish
a focus group(s) to solicit input.
- DC Micro Area
Alex McCulloch emailed the group requesting information about quiet study
space and typewriter use in Davis. The group agreed that we really couldn't
help at this time since we have no additional data.
Action: Wendy will contact Alex and relay the group's decision.
- Council
Report - Amos Lakos
Amos reported on council happenings including:
-Bill Oldfield's
memo re: systems priorities The group agreed that we should comment.
We will work on a response at our next meeting.
-M. Shepherd's report to Senate in which he discusses the need to examine
different ways of allocating acquisition resources.
A discussion then ensued re: workload and the difficulty the group
members are having in completing their sections of the user survey.
- Help Desk Survey - S. Rahman
Shabiran reported on the survey which will be sent out three ways 1.
email 2. paper copy, and 3.a web version. She helped the systems department
develop some closed and open-ended questions. Several of the group
members expressed an interest in seeing the original questionnaire.
Action: Shabiran
will send a copy of the original questionnaire to the
group.
