Community Needs Assessment Process Group
Meeting #28 (Oct. 8, 1996)

  1. Final draft of the Saturday and Sunday User Survey:

    Suggested changes to the questionnaire:
    1. Question 1 should be: Have you ever used any of the UW Libraries?
    2. Question 4: change (check all that apply) to (mark all that apply)
    3. Question 7: streamline the question e.g. Are you a student?
      From what institution? UW WLU Conestoga etc.

      Shabiran will make the changes and give a draft to Margaret Hendley.

      Dr. John Goyder helped Shabiran work out the structure of the sample population. There will be 200 responses gathered from the Dana Porter Library and 250 responses from the Davis Centre Library. Every 8th person leaving Porter will be interviewed and every 16th person leaving Davis. The sample may be completed in one weekend late in October and Shabiran will look into how many responses should be gathered on the Saturday. Mary Stanley asked that the interviews not be done on November 3rd as there is a reception in the Dana Porter Library. Others also suggested not to do the interviews during mid-terms. The results will be reviewed and if another sample needs to be completed it will be done in November.

    4. Draft of questionnaire II of Library's organizational realignment:

      Suggestions for changes in Section B:

      a) Question 2: change understand what kind to know enough about the kind. The question should read: Do you know enough about the kind of work that goes on in the five process groups and Library council?

      b) Add another question: Do you understand the role of the process groups and the Library council?

      c) Add Library council to the question about accomplishing goals.

  2. System Helpdesk Survey:
    Shabiran has forwarded the draft report of the System Helpdesk Survey to Marina Wan. When Shabiran receives the comments and suggestion she will report to CNAG.

  3. Information Needs Survey:
    Mary Stanley distributed the revised drafts of the survey and asked members to forward any changes to Ann Naese.
