Community Needs Assessment Process Group
Meeting #27 (September 10, 1996)

  1. User Study Discussion
    Amos and Mary have put together the report. It will be given to Sharon for corrections to grammar, spelling, etc. Sharon will work with Amos for final polishing. Sharon will then distribute it to the group members for final editing and approval.

    Library Council has requested a presentation of the report before it is released. Amos requested Shabiran be present at the presentation. The final report will be made available on the Web.

  2. Upcoming Activities
    • Saturday and Sunday User Survey
      Shabiran is coordinating the Survey on behalf of CNAG. A third draft has been sent to CSPG who have made some minor changes. She noted it was not the role of CNAG to administer the survey but to give help as requested.
    • Help Desk Survey
      Shabiran will have the report ready in the next couple of days.
    • Tri-University Policies Comparison Project
      Mary is working on locating someone to give CNAG instruction on how to facilitate the focus groups. Amos, Mary and Sharon will be responsible for this project and incorporate other CNAG members as needed.

      When is Susan Routliffe expecting some activity?
    • Electronic Library Interface - questionnaire
      The questionnaire was sent to Library Reference Desk staff (25 people). CNAG expressed concerns about the design of the questionnaire. Amos gave his input to the questionnaire at the Internet Resources Committee meeting. CNAG feels this is a Client need and would have liked more input.
    • Study Space Needs
      Discussion was on what type of survey instrument to use. We may need to use observation methods. The study should be qualitative with few questions. Laurie will send a count of the number of study spaces in Porter and Davis to Amos. To be discussed further.

  3. Facilitator Rotation
    Amos will be Facilitator for September and October. Sharon will facilitate November and December.
