Thursday, March 20, 2003
10:00-10:35am
Porter Meeting Room 512A

Present: Jane Britton, Wish Leonard, Shabiran Rahman, Alexandra Stathopoulos (recorder)
Regrets: Anne Fullerton, Jamie Russell, Heather Schaaf

1. Approval of minutes from February 20th and March 6th

The minutes from the February 20th and March 6th meetings were approved as written.

2. Business Arising

a. NVIVO software: The demonstration package from the NVIVO web site (http://www.qsr.com.au/products/nvivo.html) was discussed. Shabiran has arranged to have at least one copy of the full NVIVO software package purchased from the new budget in May 2003.

b. LibQual Results: Shabiran reported that Susan Routliffe has offered to go through the LibQual study results with her, since they are apparently very difficult to interpret. Once Shabiran has gotten a handle on the results, she will bring them to the group.

c. Purchase of Assessment Materials: Three copies of the book: “Assessing Service Quality: Satisfying the Expectations of Customers” were purchased with approval from S. Routliffe. One copy has been catalogued and may be found in Porter Controlled Access at the call number: Z711.H45 1998. The other two copies will be shared among the CNAC membership.

d. Meeting Guests: Guests to the March 6th CNAC meeting: Mark Polger and Sandra Keys will not be formally asked to join CNAC. Their input regarding the ISMC reference assessment study was greatly appreciated by CNAC members, and the group suggests that they offer their services to help with the ISMC study itself.

3. Update on CNAC’s Involvement in the ISMC Reference Review

Shabiran passed on the decisions made by CNAC regarding their level of involvement in the ISMC Reference Review; namely, to suggest a methodology and act as a resource to whomever takes on the responsibility of conducting the assessment. Since CNAC will not actually be conducting the review, ISMC reserves the right to make the final decisions on what methods are used.

ISMC is in the process of making revisions the charter for their project. Once the charter revision is completed, CNAC will begin to develop suggested methodologies for the review.

4. CNAC’s web pages

Discussion of the CNAC web pages was deferred until the next meeting.

5. Repository

Discussion of repositories for received information was deferred until the next meeting.
