Guests: Janet Wason
The survey officially closed on March 5th, 2004.
74 surveys were returned.
We were unable to contact all the necessary students for the survey.
162 emails were sent, 15 bounced back. These email addresses were retrieved from a list of 302 people receiving exam accommodation. Of this list, only 162 had email addresses listed.
There were an unspecified number of students that were verbally encouraged to fill out the survey at the OPD office.
Janet also encouraged four students to fill out the survey from the Adaptability Centre.
Of the 1000 registered students with the OPD, only about 200 were actually contacted.
Print copies of the cover letter inviting students to participate in the survey are believed to have not been sent out. Shabiran will look into this officially with Rose.
Unsure if the survey advertisement planned to be in the Imprint was actually published. Janet will look into this.
CNAC discussed the results obtained with the survey and have decided to explore reopening the survey. This time, we would ensure that the print cover letters are mailed out and that advertisements appear in the Imprint.
Shabiran will talk to Rose to discuss their student database to assess whether or not we can obtain proper contact information for the survey audience.
CNAC has decided to honour the two survey prizes advertised to be drawn on March 16th. We will also offer two new prizes for the continuation of the survey. Shabiran will talk to LBPC to see about funding for these two new prizes.
Dan will use a randomization chart to select the winners of the first two prizes. He will then contact Janet with the two numbers he comes up with, Janet will connect these numbers with students who filled out the survey and contact them herself.
CNAC has decided that if the OPD student database is too incomplete, we will stop the survey as it currently stands.
Shabiran will send the frequencies from the completed surveys to all CNAC members to view before next meeting.
Since we did manage to limit our audience by not publishing the URL to the general university population, it has been decided that we can proceed with an article. We will begin working on the background information since the status of the survey is still uncertain at this point. CNAC members will be asked to volunteer to cover the different sections of the survey.
Next Meeting: Thursday, March 25th, DP 512A
