Approval of minutes from the June 17th meeting

The minutes from the meeting were approved with minor changes.

Business Arising

None to report.

Survey Final Report

CNAC has now produced two reports. An interim report that is already available on the web, and a second report which is much more detailed and includes analysis. It is this second report that CNAC is working on developing during this meeting.

In the report, the percentages used are based on the number of people who answered the questions instead of being based on the total number of survey respondents. It is because of this that you may notice some discrepancies in percentage numbers between the interim report and the current one.

In the report you will find the percentages listed first with the number of respondents following the percentage in brackets.

CNAC plans on using existing reports from past projects as a reference for improving our report structure and developing more of a detailed background to the analysis.

Two areas that still need to be created for the report are Methodology and Final Summary. Dan Sich will insert the Methodology section from our ongoing article into the final report. The final summary will be worked on as a group and will summarize our findings, ie. did our findings match our hypothesis?

All members of CNAC are now responsible for going back to their particular section of analysis and making sure that is correctly represented in the final report. Any changes are to be directed to Shabiran.

It was decided that the report would have the actual comments from the survey added as an appendice.

For further research, Shabiran will provide a few existing articles on our topic that she found in ERIC. She also has supplied CNAC members with a list of URL’s that all have to do with surveys and disabilities. All members are to take a look at them before next meeting.

Next Steps

  1. Dan has begun editing the draft of the report that Shabiran sent out Tues PM.  He’ll add the ‘methodology’ section from the draft article and any other relevant sections, and send this 2 nd draft report out to everyone.
  2. Jane will then add her edits, before passing the document back to the group.  Janet will then add her edits.  (Please use the “Track Changes” feature found under “Tools” in MS Word.)
  3. The report will then be passed along to Shabiran who will whittle down the added parts (i.e. methodology) to the point where they’re suitably short for the report.  Dan will at this point take the relevant parts from the report and tack them onto the end of the article.  Dan & Michele will start work on massaging the article.
