Digital Library Coordination Committee

Terms of Reference

The University of Waterloo and the University of Waterloo Library are recognised as leaders in the application of emerging and advanced technology. The innovative and effective use of information technology will play an important role in the continuing development of the digital library. Advisory to the University Librarian through the Associate University Librarian, the Digital Library Coordination Committee (DLCC) will be a Library-wide forum for discussion and coordination of information systems and technology (IST) issues and initiatives in the University of Waterloo Library.

The DLCC will:

  1. Make recommendations on:
  1. Facilitate discussion among library departments and committees.
  2. Anticipate, monitor and discuss information technology developments.
  3. Promote and expedite the innovative and effective use of information technology in the University of Waterloo Library.
  4. Establish sub-groups and invite others to its meetings when appropriate.

The DLCC will not participate in the management of day-to-day activities. The committee will meet monthly and as needed. The DLCC will work within the context of University of Waterloo Library internal (e.g.: IST Department, Federated and Affiliated Colleges) and external (e.g. TUG, OCUL) partnerships.

Membership

The membership of the DLCC and its terms of reference will be reviewed after the first year.

Consultants to the committee will include the Network Systems Administrator; "Systems Analyst, Web & Database Developments" [position description to be written, evaluated & posted]; TUG colleagues; a Department of Information Systems and Technology Liaison; and others as needed.
