TDR (Richard Pinnell): (a) Report: TDR has not met since July 23, 2001. The meeting scheduled for today was cancelled. Richard reported on the departure of Helene LeBlanc (WLU) and stated no decision on her replacement has been made. A TDR statistics report has been prepared by Doug Horne and distributed to the steering committee. Mark Haslett has requested the report be taken back to TUG OMG for further discussion (i.e. clarification of TDR staffing, statistics counted, and other issues) Discussion about the statistics report prompted the suggestion that it would be useful for EDS staff to visit Guelph to meet all TDR staff. Action: Richard will try to arrange a tour. (b) Classification of data: Richard reported nothing has been done yet about the subject classification of data on the TDR website. EDS members will schedule a meeting to look at this. In preparation for the meeting, other institutions' sites will be examined. Arrangements for the meeting will be communicated by email. (c) Link to administration page: A link to the administration page has been placed at the bottom of the TDR top level page. A password and ID is required. Susan noted she would also like to see a link placed on the TUG staff web page. Action: Richard will raise the issue with OMG of providing access from the TUG staff page. (c) Webboard: Richard noted several conferences have been set up on the TDR webboard. EDS members are encouraged to add conferences. Reminder: a notice should be sent out as new conferences are added. 4. ICPSR Direct (Susan Moskal): Susan reported on the new ICPSR Direct service that allows patrons to download data directly from ICPSR - by-passing TDR. She noted a number of concerns merit discussion at the OMG level; namely, where and how the service is presented, access from the TDR page, provision of technical support and the creation of a web page explaining how the service works locally. Action: Richard will take the concerns back to OMG. 5. DMTI (Richard Pinnell): Richard reported comprehensive data of street network files for all of Canada will soon be available through Digital Mapping Technologies (Markham). The data is produced on 10 cds (currently with Faye Abrams) and will be hosted by the University of Toronto. 6.
