Minutes of Previous Meeting The date should read April 27, 1994 2. Business Arising To be covered below. 3. Codebook Access Albert Kemp reports that the investigation of conversion of MARC records to SGML is in progress 4. CANSIM/EPAS We have received a message from Chris Leowski at EPAS outlining the next steps he will take in setting up the software on the Library computer. Carol Vogt indicated there is an Economics class that would like to be using this facility by July. 5. Census and GSS data The official licence agreement for the 1991 Census has been distributed; it is similar to the preliminary versions already seen. 5.1 Inventory & 5.2 Description Doug Morton distributed a draft of descriptions of files with lists of filenames with notes about what is understood to be at UW. 5.3 Acquisition The committee recommended that Albert Kemp and Debbie Tytko take over the acquisition process as soon as possible. 5.4 Census Geographic Data The Geographic Area files - Street Network files on CD-ROM have arrived. 6. User Interface There was considerable discussion about the interface and how users might perceive the data, "access" the data, and use the data and how this can be related to either a Gopher or Web environment. Shabiran Rahman will invite an experienced user to the next meeting. 7. Data Storage 14 Gigabytes of disk drives have been ordered for the Library computer for storage of data such as the Census and GSS. 8. Next meeting
