Minutes of Previous Meeting Richard Pinnell was absent 2. Business Arising covered below 3. Additional Agenda Richard Pinnell: update on Mapinfo. 4. CANSIM/EPAS The disc drives and interface boards may be arriving soon. If further delays occur, Carol Vogt reported that Doug Payne may be able to find sufficient disc space to NFS store the CANSIM data (which the programme on Library could access) until our drives came in. 5. Census and GSS data Work on the inventory continues. Richard Pinnell noted that the Digital Cartographic Files from Statistics Canada are among the datasets not distributed as part of the consortium purchase of the 1991 Census. 6. Access to existing DRC data Charles Woods is preparing a list of codebooks (from the catalogue) for Betty Graf to work on updating (mostly location changes). Two more boxes of material remain to be shipped from DCS to LIB 222; this will be done. Sue Moskal has distributed a preliminary list of furniture requirements to the group for review. 7. Interface training Now that training has been completed the task is to divide up the task of filling in the EDS gopherspace. People creating pages should note the existing format with "last updated: date" and "University of Waterloo Library" at the top of the page. 8. Mapinfo Richard Pinnell has Mapinfo ver. 2.1 installed on his workstation as well as the Street network Files. Version 3 is to be shipped soon. There was some discussion about where the programme should be accessible from - throughout the Library or just UMD. More work will need to be done to see how it will be used. Richard will demonstrate the package to the group in the near future.
