Minutes of Previous Meeting - Approved as issued. 2. Business Arising - No additional business. 3. Additional Agenda - * Material in room 222 * Data liberation 4. CANSIM/EPAS - Sue Moskal is expecting a copy of the Statscan contract for the purchase of CANSIM data. The cost of this data is $995. Meanwhile, Sue will check with the Acquisition dept. to confirm which fund the order must be initiated from. Mike Ridley will be asked to check for reconciliation under any previous agreements. 5. Census Data - A meeting has been scheduled for next Wed. at 10:00 am, between Carol, Jan, and Albert, to discuss the transfer of other existing census data on campus to Library. Bill Oldfield asked Albert to move the data on Watserv2 to Library. According to Laine Ruus' memo dated 5/31/94, it appears that UWEDS is missing a considerable amount of census data. Once an inventory of all existing data on campus has been completed, UWEDS can approach Laine for the missing data. Bill Oldfield stressed the importance of backing up the data, once it has been consolidated on Library. Charles woods will be contacted to make arrangements for the periodic backup of this data. Bill asked Albert to consult with Charles about the backup routines on Library. 6. GSS Data - Albert Kemp is awaiting contact from Terry Stewart in BMH, regarding the GSS datasets on Healthy. Meanwhile, Carol Vogt will see if she can confirm space requirements for the storage of this data on Library (if she can locate it on Healthy). Apparently, all 8 cycles of GSS data released to date are stored on Healthy. Shabiran Rahman will be checking with faculty member John Hirdes, regarding the proper structuring of access to this data via Gopher. 7. EDS Gopher - Neil Patterson of DCS will advise Carol Vogt on how to specify input/ output statements in SPSS and SAS stub files. Then Erin Harvey of Stats Consulting will review the modified stub files for public use. Shabiran Rahman reported that she has setup the necessary links to the GSS codebooks in Gopher. Bill Oldfield stated that the privileged Gopher server for UW campus computers will filter access to census data, Uncover, etc. A link to the privileged Gopher will be inserted in UWinfo. 8. UWEDS Service Configuration - Sue Moskal distributed copies of the current service configuration. She will present and updated version, defining the UWEDS, to PPG for their review. 9. UW Electronic Library - Bill Oldfield will examine the "about UWEDS" documents in Gopher as a possible basis for ideas on setting up a UWEDS homepage for WWW. 10. Materials in 222 - Maureen Kama is going through the materials in room 222 to match up Geac catalogue records with census codebooks. Carol Vogt will check for possible existing DRC resources in UWinfo. 11. Data Liberation - The March 1994 draft of the initiative was discussed, with a focus on how it would impact the UWEDS.
