Minutes of the meeting of August 17, 1994 The minutes of the meeting of August 17, 1994 were approved with minor corrections. 2. Business Arising 4. CANSIM Debbie Tytko reported that the CANSIM contract has been signed and returned to Statistics Canada. 3. Additional Agenda Room 222 Cataloguing of Data Resource Centre Codebooks 4. CANSIM Bill Oldfield reported that most of the CANSIM data has been FTPed but that it is not yet running. Doug Morton will be contacting Chris Leowski to ask him a few questions and to get an overall update on the status. Bill said that now that the data has been FTPed, we will have to put special effort into building our files for CANSIM. He will be exploring the connecting operations ie: the top level UW-EDS service will be available to the World. Specific services ie: CANSIM, GSS will be located on Library on a restricted gopher. Albert Kemp will begin to contruct a WEB page for UW-EDS. 5. CENSUS Albert Kemp reported that status of the tranfer of Census data from Jan Willwerth to Library is still the same as last week. He sent Jan an E-mail again today regarding the missing data. Albert Kemp also reported that more data is now available for FTP from Toronto. He is presently modifying his program and once the changes are made, the new data will be transferred. 6. GSS Albert Kemp reported that we now have GSS Cycles 1 - 5, 7, but are missing Cycle 6. Jan Willwerth must mount Cycle 6 so that it can be FTPed to Library. Once she has mounted this Cycle, the transfer will be done. Once Shabiran Rahman returns from holidays, Albert will be working with her to FTP the GSS codebooks. Bill Oldfield reported that he does not know how to go about NFS mounting. Once all the GSS data is available for use, he will contact Doug Payne and explore how to NFS mount data. 7. UW-EDS Service Configuration Sue Moskal has forwarded the revised Electronic Data Service Public Service Component to members of P&PG. 8. Room 222 Bill Olfield reported that a portion of Room 222 has been allocated to house the Electronic Data Service Consultation Office. He will provide Mike Ridley with the requirements necessary for this office ie; hardware. 9. Cataloguing Data Resource Centre Codebooks Betty Graf will be invited to a future meeting to discuss cataloguing the codebooks from the Data Resource Centre. There are questions as to AACRII or CODOC cataloguing of these records. Betty reported to Bill that there are full records available for these codebooks.
