Minutes of Previous Meeting - Approved with minor corrections. 2. Business Arising - No additional business. 3. Additional Agenda - Item 7 moved up to item 4. * Leisure Studies Data Bank (LSDB) 4. UW-EDS Service Configuration - Doug Morton and Susan Moskal went before P&PG, to present the furniture and equipment requirements for the Public Service Component of UW-EDS. All requirements were acknowledged, and the O.K. was given to proceed with plans to acquire the necessary equipment and furniture. It was also suggested that the EDS group be expanded to include both a faculty and student representative. January 1st, 1995 was proposed as an official start date for UW-EDS. 5. CANSIM/EPAS - Doug Morton has just received the contracts for the EPAS software as well as the CANSIM data. He will be contacting Chris Leowski to verify that the necessary contracts have been signed. We are also still awaiting word from Chris regarding our request to distribute the EPAS software across campus via x-hier. 6. Census Data - Albert Kemp reported that Laine Ruus at U of T has just put up another batch of census data for ftp. However, we missed bringing down the previous batch, due to an unusually narrow time period in which to transfer the data. Laine will be contacted and arrangements made to get the missing data. 7. GSS Data - Albert Kemp reported that cycles 1 thru 7 of the GSS data have been successfully transferred to Library. Laine has also just put up cycle 8 in Toronto. The data will be transferred to Library asap. Notification for the GSS8 data was sent to Jan Willwerth, but Jan has advised that Albert should be added to the list. Laine will be con- tacted to make the change. 8. EDS Gopher - Shabiran Rahman reports that Gopher access to the gss data is almost ready. All that remains is to transfer the necessary codebooks into the appropriate area in the gopher. Shabiran and Albert will arrange transfer these files together. 9. Leisure Studies Data Bank - During a previous discussion Albert had with Jan Willwerth, the LSDB was briefly discussed regarding the role of the UW-EDS. Jan has since confirmed with the faculty of Recreation that they would be happy to cooperate in making their data available thru UW-EDS. Next Meeting: Oct. 12, 1994, 1:30 pm, LIB 428
