Minutes of the Previous Meeting - October 12, 1994 -accepted as distributed 2. Business Arising -9. Policy Document: Doug will prepare for next weeks meeting -Minutes of August 17 - item 9 - Secretary duties (revised as follows) October=Moskal; November=Pinnell; December=Vogt; January=Kemp; February=Rahman; March=Tytko 3. Additional Agenda -8. Leisure Studies Data Bank (Pinnell) 4. CANSIM and EPAS -Doug continues to do occasional searches on CANSIM -Mailing files: Doug did this successfully even in a spread sheet format; we are still waiting for this facility to run automatically -Bill was to find out about secure telnet links; Carol will speak with Andrea Chappell who she sees on a regular basis -contracts have been sent to EPAS and sign copies returned and the invoice paid. Doug will make sure that the original is filed with the Material Acquisitions Department 5. Census and GSS data (Kemp) -Census -Albert ftped some missing data files from WLU (Bob Ellsworth) -By next weeks meeting Albert will have a more accurate inventory of files we are missing. AK will speak with Laine Ruus in the interim to talk about preferred format for getting missing data. At our next meeting we will discuss how the missing data will be transferred -GSS -all of the codebooks, SPSS & SAS files are in place on the gopher; a few things are missing and will be replaced; Sue will provide Albert with a list of other GSS consortium members; Albert will speak with Neil Patterson about stub files. 6. User Interface -Bruce MacNeil requested that Doug prepare a progress report every once in a while. It was decided that it would be useful to distribute this on a wider basis to library staff. -Sue and Doug met with the Porter Reference Department to explain and discuss the Electronic Data Service delivery and policies. A demonstration of the CANSIM files was presented by Doug. -Sue and Doug will be making several presentations in November: November 18th, Department of Computing Service, Professional Development Seminar; November 23rd, Dept. of Computing Services, Class. 7. Violence Against Women data -the data is here; the agreement has been sent to Ottawa (Sue) and we should be receiving some hardcopy documentation 8. Leisure Studies Data Bank (Pinnell) -Richard will be meeting with Roger Mannell next Monday to get going on the transfer of these files. Mannell has an inventory of data sets. R.
