Minutes of Previous Meeting - Approved. 2. Business Arising - None. 3. Additional Agenda - 6. Cataloguing 7. ICPSR 4. CANSIM/EPAS - B. Oldfield reports that our 1st update to the CANSIM database was partially successful. The /tmp area overflowed, but this problem was quickly resolved and the update continued to completion. The database now contains over 581,000 time series. Andrea Chappell (DCS) will be working on secure telnet access to CANSIM. 5. Census, GSS & VAW - C. Vogt reports that the VAW data is accessible, using the SAS/SPSS programs which came with the data. However, there are significant problems with the SAS/SPSS programs for GSS. The only acception to this is the most recent cycle, GSS8. Carol proposed creating our own basic SAS/SPSS control files for cycles 1 thru 7. It was suggessted that Erin Harvey, of Statistical Consulting Services, attend a future meeting to advise us further on this matter. B. Oldfield proposed the formation of a subgroup, to implement a Web to SAS system here at UW. This matter will be discussed further when Erin Harvey visits. 6. Cataloguing - S. Moskal reports that Betty Graf (Cataloguing Dept.) asked her about the desired location code form spine labels. To be decided. 7. ICPSR - A. Kemp submitted a bulletin from ICPSR to S.
