4.CANSIM

  There was no change in the status of setting up of a secure telnet. 
  Bill will take this up with Andrea

  Albert demonstrated the Web access to CANSIM. He has set up a CANSIM 
  Access Data Retrieval Interface to access frequently requested series
  His efforts were appreciated by all
  
  Chuck will continue to monitor the updates for sometime before looking 
  into automating the updates

  Doug Morton reported that the series number for CPI had changed to P484000


5. Census

   Albert will move files to make them available through the Web
   No report on the About files for Census
   Albert reported that the inventory of files was completed. Some new 
   Census files were received. According to Laine Russ, we had received 
   half of the files so far 
   
   Richard has successfully converted the Boundary Files from ArcInfo to 
   MapInfo format with the assistance from the Geography Department. It was 
   agreed that we would offer the information in both formats on EDS. As 
   no one had done this before Laine would like to receive these files also
   It was noted that when ArcView is purchased we may be able to 
   partition the data and have it availbale in smaller files  

 6.   VAW
      Albert has moved files to 'library'
      Shabiran agreed to create the html version of the 'About File'
      Carol will do a short write-up on how to access the data and system 
      files

7.  GSS
    Shabiran agreed to htmlalize the GSS 'About File' for the Web page
   

8.  User Interface
    Bill will forward the information received from David Barber about the 
    Web access to SAS. The members would make a comparison between a 
    similar access available from University of Virginia.
    With regards to User Interface Doug would contact Esther Millar to get 
    the standards.
    Roger Mannell of LSDB will be coming to the next EDS meeing to be 
    held  on March 1, 1995
    Bill reported that statistics are up. Also preliminary indexing was 
    working. Bill will continue to work on it 
    
9. Debbie Tytko would attend the EDS meeting only when her presence was 
   required. She will continue to receive the minutes of the meeting.
