Census, GSS, & VAW - Carol Vogt distributed a chart outlining those SAS & SPSS files that can now be used to extract data from the GSS files. All SAS control files work except Cycle 3, but Carol has identified the problems and will continue testing. 3 out of 8 SPSS control files are working and Carol will continue testing these as well. 5. Room 222 - Sue Moskal stated that we will need additional storage cabinets for the office in room 222. All ICPSR holdings currently kept in room 222 will be sent off for cataloguing. Several weeks ago, the CD-ROM unit from the EDS computer system was used as an emergency replacement in the library's CD-ROM network tower. A new CD-ROM for EDS has been ordered. Albert Kemp will follow this up and keep the group informed. A date for announcing the official opening of the UW-EDS was discussed. Since there was a prior announcement in February, the group decided on an Open House, to be held sometime in September. As a goal, the group will work towards having all 3 primary services (CANSIM, Census, and GSS) available by September. 6. CANICPSR - Sue Moskal mentioned a new Gopher resource available at U of T. Among other things, it provides a list of all participating CANICPSR institutions. 7. Health Promotion Survey - Shabiran Rahman indicated that D. Tytko, of the Acquisitions-Serials dept., will be contacting Albert Kemp about loading the data, codebook, and control files onto Library. It is presumed that this data can be made available quickly, without too much work. Next Meeting: July 19, 1995, 1:30 pm, Porter 428.
