                   Minutes for Meeting of August 16, 1995

1.  Minutes of Previous Meeting - Approved.

2.  Add'l Agenda - 6. ICPSR CD-ROM for J. Hirdes

3.  Storage on Library - 
    Doug Morton commented on the need to control that disk space that   
    belongs to UW-EDS.  It has become apparent that we will need all 
    the storage space we originally planned for. 

    CD-ROMs were considered as a possible solution for archive the low-
    use data.  Albert Kemp will talk to Jerry Bolce of DCS about the 
    possibility of burning this data onto cds.

4.  Open House - 
    An Open House for the UW-EDS is slated for sometime in early October,
    in room 222 (Porter).

5.  Textual Databases - 
    Christine Jewell will be joining UW-EDS at some point in the future.
    She is in the process of developing an Electronic Text Committee to
    offer access to textual works such as Shakespeare, Sherlock Holmes,
    BeoWolf, etc.

6.  ICPSR CD-ROM for J. Hirdes - 
    Shabiran Rahman reports that John Hirdes of the Health Studies 
    faculty, has offered to help the Library by purchasing an ICPSR 
    CD-ROM.  The cost of this cd is approximately $175.
