University of Waterloo Electronic Data Service Working Group Minutes for Meeting of February 21, 1996 Present: Albert Kemp (Secretary) Absent: Debbie Tytko Doug Morton Sue Moskal (Chair) Richard Pinnell Shabiran Rahman Carol Vogt CC: Bruce MacNeil, Charles Woods 1. Minutes of Previous Meeting - Deferred. 2. Add'l Agenda - 8. Purchase Access to U of T Data 3. EDS Open House - It was decided by the group that rather than having an Open House, the EDS could be promoted and publicized as part of the T.R.A.C.E. Faculty week in September. Sue will contact Bruce MacNeil and then Gary Griffin to make arrangements. 4. EDS Office Hours Newsletter - The group reviewed the proposed hours of service memo prepared by Sue Moskal. Shabiran Rahman suggested adding an additional time slot to the existing schedule. Sue will revise the current memo to reflect the additional hours of service, and present it to the group for review. 5. EDS Brochure - User Education has offered to include information about the EDS in their Grad Student information package. It was agreed that much of the same information in the Office Hours Newsletter could be used for this purpose. Doug Morton volunteered to contact Linda Hastings regarding adding EDS information to the new faculty packages. 6. DLI Update - The group felt it necessary to defer discussion on this topic until Debbie Tytko (Materials Acquisition) could be present. Debbie plays an important role in the DLI data request/retrieval process. Some of the outstanding issues involve how requests for DLI data should be handled, and how to proceed in the event of Debbie's absence. 8. Purchase of Access to U of T Data - Doug Morton is following up on this and will have a report ready for the group when we meet again on March 6th. 9. EDS General Discussion - The original mandate and mission of the group was revisited. It was agreed by all that a report on the status of the working group should be prepared and presented to PP&G. Doug Morton will prepare a draft version for the group's review. Next Meeting: March 6, 1996, 1:30 p.m., Davis Conference Room.
