1.  Add'l Agenda  Item 9 Joint Programmes

2.  Minutes of the Meeting July 3
    Susan Moskal, Richard Pinnell, Dr Jim Bronx and one additional 
    faculty will participate in the Faculty Days to be held Friday 
    September 6 from 9-10.15am
    
4.  EDS Web pages
    a. Marina Wan would follow directions from the EDS Committee to create 
       web pages similar to those at the University of Calgary (Shabiran,Sue)
       Doug Morton would work a litte more on some of the pages he 
       created, before passing them on to Marina

    b. FYI Newsletter sent out to faculty announcing the EDS Service, 
       would be used to make changes to the opening paragraph (Sue)

    c. The second paragraph would have the WARNING in bold or 
       italics to alert the users. Other sites would be reviewed 
       to see how this was being done elsewhere
     
     d. Headings listed, as well acronyms, would be explained further
     
     e. The first page would have the following main headings:
          1. Canadian Socio-economic and demographic data
          2. Non-Canadian Socio-economic and demographic data
          3. Geo-spatial and Environmental data
          4. Cartographic data
          
          Links from these main headings connect to lists of datasets 
          arranged alphabetically. 

    
4.  Authentication Task Group
    A new task group has been formed to discuss issues related to 
    authenticating our users. Richard summarized the mandate of the 
    group. Their task would finish by the end of September. Members of 
    the group are Richard Pinnell, Sue Moskal, Doug Morton and Chuck Woods

5.  Back-ups during holiday period
    Reference Service would be covered between Doug Morton, Sue Moskal 
    and Shabiran Rahman

    Carol Vogt would be available to back-up Albert Kempt and Debbie 
    Tytko if required

6.  LANDRU (Local Area network Data Retrieval) Unversity of Calgary
    This is a web-based retrieval system being used at University of 
    Calgary. This retrieval system would be evaluated in September

7.  Joint-programmes
    Sudents at Guelph or WLU who enrolled in joint-programme with the U 
    of Waterloo, are eligible to use data available from EDS
