University of Waterloo Library Electronic Data Service Task Group Minutes of Meeting April 2, 1997 (FINAL) Present Albert Kemp, Doug Morton, Sue Moskal (Chair), Richard Pinnell, Sue Moskal (Chair), Shabiran Rahman (Secretary) Absent Carol Vogt 1. Business Arising Sue will check to see if the statistics she downloaded for EDS are comprehensive. Richard will send manual monthly UMD statistics to Sue. New statistics form, similar to the one recently designed for reference statistics, was discussed and accepted in principle. Statistics on the number of consultations-contacts and datasets requested, would be kept. Use of all numeric electronic data would be reported under EDS 2. Faculty Advisory Group Meeting This meeting would be held on Monday April 14th in the Davis Centre Library Conference room from 1.30pm-3.30pm. Dr Ron Lambert and Dr John Wilson have sent regrets Responsibilities for various agenda points were divided as follows: Introductions: Sue Moskal Communication: Doug Morton Management of DCS datasets: (Carol Vogt) Future Directions: Shabiran Rahman 3. TUG Initiative A group from UWEDS and WLU met with electronic data service providers from University of Guelph to see a demo of the progress made on their pilot project. Work done by Guelph opens up a number of possibilities with regards to co-operation. The Pilot Project finishes at the end of April. Bo Wandschneider will send a copy of proposed recommendations for TUG collaborations to EDS. It was decided that EDS would meet with Mark Haslett, Jay Black and David Kibble to discuss the proposal 4. Leisure Studies Data Bank Richard reported that two of the datasets were up on the web. Technical design questions have yet to be sorted. Richard will do a demo at the next EDS meeting 5. Other Business Albert recommended that requests for technical assistance from him be routed through Carl Nagel
