The primary goals of email reference service are to support the immediate information and research needs of the current students, faculty and staff of the University of Waterloo.

Referrals to other library staff and departments, such as Liaison Librarians and/or Circulation Services, are contingent to the nature of the email request received.

The Group works in liaison with the Chat Reference Group to ensure that the common software is functional and efficient in service delivery.

The Group will remain open to the possibility of using new technologies for email reference service delivery.
