The Davis Centre Library provides support for students and faculty in Engineering, Mathematics and Science. It is a popular place for study and work, with more than 3,400 students visiting daily - and usage is expected to increase in the future.
For some years, the Library has been developing a state-of-the-art learning facility in the Davis Centre Library. A major gift from RBC Financial Group helped to establish a new Information Commons that gives students and faculty access to a wide range of resources.
Economical's support can assist by enhancing the main-floor "galleria" for students who need a quiet area to focus on individual study and research. There currently is an area in the Davis Library set aside for this purpose, but it is not yet equipped to support the needs of our students today. Economical's funding for this important project would provide for an extensive updating and refurbishment of the galleria with modern study carrels (to replace those dating from the 1960's), wiring for laptop use, and improved privacy and sound proofing.
