This page describes actions a selector might take after receiving a notification from Jo Heimpel that an ejournal in their area has been dropped from one of the major packages.
It may be that your users do not need the title. If that is the case, no action need be taken.
If you are interested in retaining access, a number of factors come into play:
Is it a title that you had subscribed to in print but cancelled because of electronic access through the package? If so, then you should let Debbie know if you are interested in retaining access. The subscription will be covered by the Electronic Resources fund. Please consider carefully before making the decision to retain access. If your departmental concentrations have altered over the years, or if the journal's use stats are low, seeking alternative access may not be appropriate.
Before deciding to pursue alternative access, you may wish to consider usage. Contact Baiba Turner bturner@library.uwaterloo.ca.
Jo may have information about alternative access. The title may have been dropped by one package, but picked up by another one that we subscribe to. If this is the case, Jo will let you know, and no action need be taken. However, Jo may not have any information about alternative access. In that case, you'll need to look into access options. Your assistant may be able to help you out with this. Heather Schaaf may be able to provide answers regarding the electronic access services we have available to us.
Please keep in mind that the Ejournals Additions and Deletions page lists new and deleted titles by date and subject. Titles dropped by a package however will not be listed here if back issues are still accessible. http://webdev.uwaterloo.ca/ejournals/ej_news.html?navbar=uw
