Fall Publication
Susan Routliffe, Murray Shepherd and Mary Stanley had discussed the possibility
of developing a publication for the fall term publicizing some of the services
library provides. This would be distributed to the faculty and the students.
Mary shared samples of similar documents that had been developed at University
of Delaware and at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. This newsletter
would come out once a year or more as appropriate. Contents would be such
that they do not become dated quickly. This publication could be distributed
with the Gazette and the Imprint and other special mailings such as packages
sent to international students by the International students Office. Liaison
Librarians could also include this in the packages prepared for new faculty.
Mary discussed the timeline if this publication was to be inserted in the
15th-22nd September issues of the Gazette and the Imprint.
To meet his timeline the final copy would have to be with the designers by
mid-July. Various individuals could be asked to contribute articles on topics
of interest and expertise. Esther Millar would help Mary with finalizing the
publication.
ISMC members engaged in brain-storming to come up with some topics that
could be considered for inclusion in the first issue. Topics suggested are:
GIS, ILL, Special Collections, User Education, Distance education, EDS/TDR,
Adaptive Technology, TUGBARS, Government Publications, E-Journals, Proxy
server, Coffee shop, Library’s website, Borrowing Privileges, How Librarians
can help faculty and students, Book Return Bins, TRELLIS, TUG, LT3, LT3
Pilot Projects, Publications, ASKlib, Ask Us/Tell Us.
