  2. Update about Docking Stations Sub-group

    Susan Routliffe has distributed the terms of reference for this sub-group which will report to ISMC by October 17, 2000. Jackie Stapleton will be the facilitator.

  3. Desk Schedule and Associated Service Possibilities

    Reports on reference service statistics from Amos Lakos and Maureen McCormack distributed prior to the meeting were discussed. Of interest and concern is the overall decline in reference statistics while there is an increase in the number of people coming into the libraries.

    Difficulties in determining exactly what is happening became apparent as we found different people applied differing interpretations to reference activities. Increases in the number of directional questions would indicate that signage is one issue that warrants further investigation.

    Two proposals have been made about ways of enhancing service, reference roving and telephone service. A draft document with details discussing a reference roving pilot project was started at this meeting which, when completed, will be brought to ISR.
