ISMC’s Web Site
In preparation for converting its pages to the new format, ISMC reviewed its file space on the Staff Web to determine what will be retained or deleted, which files will be made available to the public, which ones should be available for staff only, and how the top page should be organized. It agreed on the following:
Retain all of the files.
- Make all of the existing files public. (Richard will speak with Jenny Marvin about her presentation to UW Library on virtual reference, and whether her file can be included.)
- Include the following links in the sidebar: Membership, Terms of Reference, Minutes, Topics Discussed, and Meeting Schedule.
- List the minutes for the current year only on the Minutes page, and link to pages containing the minutes of previous years.
- Place topics currently under discussion (e.g. virtual reference) at the
top of the Topics Discussed page, and the other topics below in alphabetical
order.
- Remove the sidebar within substantial documents.
If, in the future, it becomes apparent that the above decisions need to be revised
(e.g. making some files private), the Committee will do so when appropriate.
ISMC will plan to review the files on an annual basis for dated material.
A question arose as to whether it would be possible to see the number of hits
on the pages, and where they come from. Susan R. will ask Marina about
the status of the Web Operational Management Group’s project on statistics.
