- Minutes of Previous Meeting
The minutes of the September 18, 2001 meeting
were approved with changes.
- Review of Statistics Table
The Committee continued to fill in the latest version
of the table, which Maureen had updated to include the changes discussed last
week. Further action is required as follows:
- Susan R. and Maureen will approach Janet Wason for clarification
of the breakdown of the types of questions she includes in the statistics for
the Adaptive Technology Centre.
- Maureen will complete the Distance Ed and Library Instruction categories
with Judy McTaggart, and Margaret Aquan-Yuen, respectively.
- Maureen will ask Cheryl for the status of the Word version of the
table.
External reports the Library currently supplies statistics for were discussed.
The Library provides CARL and ARL the following:
- The number of library presentations to groups.
- The number of total
participants in group presentations.
- The number of reference
transactions.
The Committee completed the table (with the exception of Distance Ed and Library
Instruction), but earmarked the following issues or questions for future discussion:
- Consistency must be
ensured when counting or recording consultations.
- What happens to the data for the Adaptive Technology Centre after it is entered
on MIS? (What is the data being grouped with?)
- Consultations are
added to reference questions, but not every consultation is necessarily a reference
question.
In preparation for moving on to the next stage of the discussion on statistics,
Susan R. compiled four groups of questions for the Committee to review. Future
steps will include:
- inviting Amos Lakos
to meet with ISMC
- putting the questions
Susan R. compiled to ISR, probably during a departmental meeting
The Committee may not get back to its discussion on the review of statistics
for several weeks. Although Maureen’s term on ISMC will end shortly, she will
continue to join the Committee for future discussions on this topic.
- Business Arising: Laptop Readiness
Tomorrow’s issue of news @ your library will contain an article about laptop
connectivity in the Library. Doug gave Esther the Web version of the instructions,
which will be linked on the Library’s top page, under About the Library. Susan
R. will talk to Mary about possibly adding it to Help. Maureen will ensure
the signs Doug brought today are posted at the laptop locations.
Next Meeting: October 2, Porter 407. This will be a meeting of the
outgoing and new members of ISMC.
