The minutes of the meeting of January 7, 2003 were accepted as written.
Project Charter for the Review of Reference Service
Since the Committee’s last meeting on January 7, the project charter
was brought to the library managers group for feedback. Revisions
based on that feedback were incorporated into the charter.
As the next step in communicating with others, the charter will be an agenda item at the ISR meeting on January 24. Information service providers from Special Collections, UMD, and Optometry have been invited for this portion of the meeting. ISMC members are welcome to attend, if they wish to do so.
Key Statistics on the Library Web
Linda provided a copy of the statistical table she has created, which includes
statistics for information resources, services, facilities, expenditures,
and staff. In giving some background for this document Linda
indicated that, after preparing the 2001/02 external statistical reports,
she has also received requests for statistical information from Library
managers. Linda’s goal was to come up with something that could be
easily extracted from our CARL/ARL reports each year and that would be a
useful source of statistical information about our Library (for staff and
others). Linda asked for feedback on the usefulness and content of this
information, and for any suggestions about where (or whether) it should
be made available on the Library web. ISMC reviewed the table and
agreed that it would be useful. The University Librarian’s web page
was suggested as a possible location for it. Linda will continue to
work on the table.
