Results of Staff Survey
Committee members will continue to review the results of the Library Staff Questionnaire about Reference Service at UW to determine what issues have been raised and what findings translate into recommendations or could be explored further.
Skills Necessary for Reference Work
Christy reported on the feedback she received on the skills document, which ISR reviewed at the last departmental meeting. During today’s discussion the purpose of this document was revisited. The Library’s work environment has changed over the last decade, particularly with respect to information technology, and it was recognized that the skills set required for this environment has also changed. This document will be useful in ensuring that the appropriate skills are sought when hiring new information services staff. Rose will update the list with the suggestions Christy brought forward today, and change the title to “Skills and knowledge needed for reference work”.
