Focus Group Report
The Committee considered what findings from the focus groups might translate into recommendations or point to the need for further investigation.
The focus groups indicate that many students don’t know about the kinds of information services available. The Committee agreed that there should be a recommendation that reflects the need to enhance or increase awareness of library services within the user community.
There is also some indication that undergraduates would like the information desk to be open when the building is open (e.g., evenings and weekends). ISMC agreed that it would be useful to explore the expansion of Saturday hours for the both the information desk and chat service among the undergraduate population.
Christy will send the focus group report to those who provide reference service for their interest.

Helena will e-mail the compilation of results to the staff groups to whom the survey was distributed with a note of thanks for participating. We’ll continue to review key findings of the staff survey at our next meeting.
Skills Necessary for Reference Work
Christy will provide the list to ISR and to Tim and Patti at Optometry for feedback and discussion at the next departmental meeting. Richard and Susan B. will take it to their departments for review.
Next Meeting: May 18 at Davis .
