At ISR's April 19 meeting, concern about the lack of applications such as word processing on public workstations was raised and I said that ISMC would consider what might be done to address the concern. At ISMC's April 30 meeting, we decided that it would be useful to strike a task group to undertake a review of the public workstations. Linda Teather volunteered to work with Carl Nagel to draft terms of reference for a task group. Through subsequent discussions with the Systems Department and Mark Haslett, Linda drafted a project charter which ISMC reviewed at its June 12 meeting. The final version of the charter is attached to this message.
The charter calls for a review team comprised of: 3 staff members appointed by ISMC (to include two ISR staff members and one User Services staff member), 2 Systems staff members (one of which will be Carl Nagel) and Stephen Markan (IST). Linda will serve as the Project Manager/Facilitator.
Sue Moskal (a member of ISMC) has volunteered to serve as one of the ISR staff members. We are now looking for a second member and think it would be best to have someone from Davis ISR. If you are interested in joining the review team, or have questions about it, please let me know. Since Linda expects to have the first meeting on July 8 and since the charter calls for submitting a report by the end of September, joining the team will not require a long-term commitment.
