- Demo of the Aldrich Spectral Viewer (Laura)
Laura Briggs demonstrated the use of Aldrich Spectral Viewer.
- Review and Discussion of Davis Info Desk Stats (Dan)
There was a review and discussion of the attached stats, with
analysis of peak hours etc. As well as concerns for desk scheduling such
as single staffing with back up available. The possibility of opening the
desk longer hours and more days was discussed. It was suggested that maybe
we try it for a term and promoting it, and see with what results. It was
also suggested that we look at the statistics for “Chat Ref & e-Mail
ref”, do we keep and expand it? There is a concern because students
are upset because “Chat Ref” is not available after 4 p.m.
The question was raised if Chat can be done from home? Students would like
it available in the evenings when they need help with homework etc. It
was also noted that “E-Ref” stats have gone up. It was suggested
that possibly we could implement roving to help students with problems.
It was decided that more stats are needed in make a decision as to the
type of desk coverage needed. We were asked to consider the question: “Is
it what we want, or what our students want and what we can provide?”
Dan Sich will try to get more info and stats for the next meeting.
- Around the Table
This was postponed.
