5)  ACRL Scholarly Communication 101

Kathy described this 3 hour workshop, which was brought to her attention by Laura and Anne.  Application deadline is Monday April 13.  Hosts must partner with at least one other institution - Laura envisioned that we could partner with WLU.  The workshop is free.
ACTION:  Kathy will forward to Margaret the email that she received from Laura and Anne.

6)  Ref Stats Training

LibQuest is the database that Davis uses to keep statistics on questions received at the Information Desk.  Porter and UML will be asked to participate in a pilot of the new version of this database.  It has yet to be determined whether Access will continue to be used or whether LibQuest could become web-based.  Further details are forthcoming.

7)  Spotlights

EDS – this session will take place March 20.  Judy will send an announcement to Porter only, since Davis staff will be attending a Civil Workplace session at the same time.  Judy will, however, inform Jennifer of the EDS session.

Nancy & Marian are working on a spotlight, details of which have yet to be revealed.  Marian asked that April 3 be kept open.  Alison noted that people will be working on the Web 2.0 project and may not have time to attend a spotlight at that time.

Kathy Szigeti had suggested in an email that she would welcome training in business information resources since we offer a degree in Science and Business.
ACTION:  we will include this topic on the next staff survey.

Kathy M. reported that Anne Fullerton had two other suggestions for spotlights, including Academic Program issues.  Topic suggestions will be included on the next survey.
ACTION:  Kathy M. will forward to Margaret the email that she received from Kathy S.

Kathy described how Optometry Resource Centre has different privileges for alumni.
ACTION:  Optometry alumni library privileges will be added to the next staff survey.

8)  EI Institute Update

The Searching 2.0 web conference will be presented on April 9 at 1 p.m.  Kathy has made all necessary bookings, including the star phone and will ask Wolf if he can be on standby in case technical issues arise.  The Training Committee may choose to meet immediately following the presentation.

9)  Web 2.0 Update

The Web 2.0 training program can be found at:

http://blogs.lib.uwaterloo.ca/web20/

Alison previewed the blog segment which includes Camtasia videos.  The entire program will be launched on March 27 with a coffee break.  Alison will contact the social uncommittee members in Porter and Davis to see if they can supply coffee and tea.  Members of Training Committee agreed to bring goodies.

10)  Training Retreat

Before leaving for vacation, Margaret tried to contact Alan Darnell but was unsuccessful.

Judy reported that Debbie Chaves is unavailable on April 30 but would be interested in doing her Impact Factors presentation later.

Nancy Collins has agreed to present the session “Reaching students in the culture of distraction”.

Susan Mavor’s session will take place in the morning in the Rare Book Room.

Kathy Szigeti will lead a hands-on session on Chemistry resources.

We need to identify another Porter session, possibly a roundtable.  Also, staff members are starting to ask about the date.  Judy will send out a notice alerting people to the date for the retreat.  The food planning can wait until the end of March.  Alison has booked the Flex Lab.

11)  Around the table.
