Meeting Minutes
November 26, 2009

1) Approval of minutes of October 22, 2009
The minutes were approved with the following changes:
- Turnitin – Jane Holbrook – date to be confirmed for November
- Deciphering – Deciphering conference proceedings could be one.
- Basic Cross Training - Kathy M. will write up a proposal for a cross training series for the ISR Training Committee to review.
- Future Topic list – add Indexing
2) Additional agenda - none
3) Business arising
a) Carol Steele – update – Statistics and TDR session will be on Friday February 12, 2010 in the Flexlab. This should take about 2 hours from 10:00 a.m. on
b) Cross Training Proposal update – Kathy M.
- Kathy will revise Basic Cross Training proposal based on committee suggestions
- Martha will set the blog up on Sharepoint.
- Martha will ask Jonathan to run a report in Lib Quest for interesting questions.
- Remind people to add interesting questions to list in the new year.
- Carol S. to ask Sandra and Agnes to create 2 questions; one easier and one difficult for Statistics Canada and TDR.
c) Accessibility and the Library update – Kathy will contact Janet and Annie to discuss this.
4) Winter ISR training committee meeting dates –
- The meetings have been tentatively booked. Kathy will check with Margaret regarding meetings.
- Judy will chair the January meetings since both Kathy and Margaret will be away.
5) Training new staff members
- Cornelia did not fill out her evaluation because she had not received training in Rec. and Leisure. She was told it was fine for her to fill it out now.
6) Winter Spotlight and Workshop selection from topics with the most interest:
- Statscan & TDR February; Odesi & Business – Sandra; UW Ace updating; Scifinder; Primo – Alison; PubMed; ArtStor – Nancy; GIS - Eva
Action: Committee members to contact specific speakers to see if they are willing and able to them.
- Martha – January – Theatre & Video - Nancy + Jonathan question
- Zsuszanna – Web 2.0 & GIS - Eva
- Carol – talk to Sandra – Business
- Kathy – UW Ace & Jennifer /Kristen
8) Next Meeting : December 10th 1:30 p.m. Porter 428
9) Around the table
- Zsuzsanna - Cataloguing hired a co-op student for January 4. Zsuzsanna is responsible for the training.
- Cataloguing Department – serial training going on. Alison has a presentation on “How to Catalogue Journals & Serials”. This will be on the Cataloguing Department Website as a power point presentation.
- Kathy – Peter Sterling is going on parental leave for the winter semester.
