4.         The group agreed to wait until the end of Winter term to see about changing meeting frequency to biweekly.

4) Training New Staff Members

Kristen Jensen (Davis desk)

Virtually all of Kristen’s training for the Davis desk has been scheduled.  Martha will figure out how to handle shadowing.

5) Spotlights/Training Sessions

Theatre in Video (Martha) – scheduled for Jan 29, 2010?

GIS (Susan) – Eva agreed to do a spotlight and then a hands-on during the retreat.  Spotlight can be considered a teaser.
Action:  Susan will firm up date shortly—likely to take place end of March.

Business Information Resources (Carol) – The committee members liked Sandra’s idea of doing a general roadmap/tour/overview, i.e. which resource is good for getting what type of information.  People can ask specific questions which may lead to the need for another session that might focus on a specific resource or two.  Date is TBA but likely end of May/early June.
Action: Carol will convey our feedback to Sandra.

Stats Canada/TDR (Carol) – Odesi is included in this session; date is Feb. 12.

Conference Proceedings (Kathy) – Several people are unable to attend on Dec. 11.
Action:  Kathy will determine if it is possible to move this session to Dec. 18.

UW ACE- Where to fit it?  Early March?

Training Retreat – It is time to start thinking about potential outside guests. The group looked at the document “ISR Training Schedule Winter & Spring 2010 – Options”.

Camtasia workshop– Judy reported on the session.  23 attended; 10 responses (8 very helpful, 2 helpful); feedback was very positive; attendee suggested that the workshop be split into multiple sections.

Turnitin – Martha will report at the next meeting.

Blog for cross-training questions – The group thought that the test blog that Martha had set up looked promising.
Action:  Carol will schedule a time for Martha, Kathy and herself to meet to decide which blog platform to use.

6) Next meeting is February 11, 2010.  If an earlier meeting is needed, Judy will set it up.
