1) Approval of minutes of January 13, 2011

4) Training New Staff Members (Colin & Ben)
Info Desk
Both Ben and Colin have been on the Porter desk solo with back up on call. Things seem to be going well. Ben has been shadowing at Davis as well. He has begun his regular shifts this week. Both have been assigned their permanent shifts for this term.
Thanks to Judy for reviewing the schedule and sorting out time conflicts for both Colin and Ben’s schedules.
Laura will meet with Ben the week of February 7th for Physics
Jennifer will do a Scholars Portal overview with Ben and Colin.
It was suggested by one of the trainees to have the entire training schedule during the first 2 weeks.
Discussed preliminary feedback with trainees.
In Porter the training for English and Recreation will be rescheduled.
In Davis, the Physics, Scholars Portal and Scopus sessions still need to be completed.
Kathy M. has created a “Subject Specific Checklist” for new hires. This will make it easier for everyone to make sure that when training, they have covered all bases. This Checklist will be reviewed at the next meeting.
5) Spotlights and Training Sessions
a) CANSIM and Census (Kathy)
Out of the 15 who attended the spotlight, 13 filled out the forms, 13 out of 13 said yes it was what they were hoping for. Ten out of 13 said it was very helpful, 3 out of 13 said it was helpful.
There were many positive comments.
Power point presentation, question sheets, CHASS handout have all been posted on the ISR Training website.
b) Natural Standards Database
This was scheduled for February 11th, but needs to be rescheduled. Angela will select another date.
c)Standards and Codes
This presentation by Doug is still to be decided.
6) Staff Survey Results – Fall 2010
The Committee reviewed the survey to determine which suggestions have already been handled or needed no further action; should be reviewed or considered; or referred to the Department Heads.

ISR Training Retreat
15 people reported that the Retreat was useful; 5 reported – somewhat. We will continue with retreat.
Format – is inconclusive, as 7 would prefer full day; 5 for 2 half-day session; 8 for either format. Scheduling speakers and training sessions might determine our final format.
