Meeting Minutes
September 27, 2012

Present: Kathy MacDonald (chair), Judy McTaggart, Jonathan Sutherland, Zsuzsanna Lancsak, Connie Kovac
Regrets: Carol Steele
1) Approval of Minutes of May 10, 2012 - The minutes were approved
2) Additional Agenda – None
3) Business Arising – Carol Steele will look after the following changes to the ISD website:
1. Membership – Add Annie Bélanger as Committee Sponsor;
2. Adding the revised Running Training Session Checklist which now includes the assessment/comments details document and then cut the comments page on the website.
3. Delete EI statistics page.
4) Annual Staff Survey – Judy
Judy gave us a summary on the survey results. Eleven people responded.
5. Selection of Fall Spotlights/Training sessions – suggestions
The following suggestions were made for the Fall Spotlights/Training sessions.
1 – e-books 2013 for the winter semester
2 – new programs available at the University e.g. bachelors in public health
3 – Biology 130 Spotlight
4 – Copyright update
5 – Geospatial Data – Zsuzsanna and Eva (Nov. 16 & 30, either date?)
6 – Student success office update
6. ISD Training Events
i) Petting Zoo (hand held devices (Annie & Jennifer) - In Progress – a proposal was sent to LibExec
ii) ISD will host “Using Tablets in the Library” – OCUL Webinar – Thursday Oct. 11 in DC.
Judy will book the room and will chat with Annie about any costs involved, as well as how best to invite Circulation Services to presentation. Kathy M. will register for the course.
7. Training New Staff Members
a. Librarian - Shannon Gordon (arrives Oct. 9th, 2012)
i) Training Outline: Kathy MacDonald has sent up a new template for Librarian Training. The “Day by Day” overview is the one to be used for scheduling purposes.
ii) Connie Kovac will do the day to day scheduling for Shannon
b. MLIS Coop students
i. Patrick Miller – things are going well, he is on the desk now, and will do his final module next week
ii. Sarah Brown – things are going well, working on her last module this week.
iii. Evaluation – the evaluations need to be sent out
