Accessibility Checklist

(This is a tentative checklist of the accessibility elements that will need to be taken into consideration when assessing the redesign of the library's homepage.)

  1. Guidelines for UW Web Sites/ UW "Gold Standard"
    (http://web.uwaterloo.ca/webguide.html)
  2. Content/Design
    • universal language/terminology
    • use of colour
    • proper XHTML code (e.g. ALT tags for all images, etc.)
  3. WCAG Priority 1 / WC3 XHTML 1.0 Transitional Compliant (minimum?)
  4. Use of a web validator to accompany manual accessibility testing (e.g. Bobby)
  5. Manual/Keyboard navigation test
  6. JAWS navigation test
  7. Recruitment of UW students to assist with accessibility testing
