JAWS - is assistive software which converts electronic text to synthesized speech - also known as a screen-reader. JAWS is typically used by people who are visually impaired.
UW "Gold Standard" (http://web.uwaterloo.ca/webguide.html)- design requirements for department or faculty web sites
W3C - World Wide Web Consortium - authoritative leaders in creating "specifications, guidelines, software, and tools" for Web development.
WAI - Web Accessibility Initiative - from W3C, this initiative "pursues accessibility of the Web through five primary areas of work: technology, guidelines, tools, education and outreach, and research and development."
WCAG - Web Content Accessibility Guidelines - from W3C, "these guidelines explain how to make Web content accessible to people with disabilities".
