  1. Notes from March 21, 2005
    Accepted as distributed.

  2. Business Arising
    Around the Table (Research Databases page): In addition to the suggestions Marina summarized in her recent e-mail, a request was also made to send "Comments & Suggestions" to the group that handles particular categories of questions (e.g., coments about e-journals go to the E-Journals group).
    We agreed to design a new "Comments & Suggestions" page where it would be possible to direct comments to a particular group.
    ACTIONS: A subgroup (Helena, Marian, Dan, and Rachel) will meet to review all the suggestions and make decisions on improvments to be made.
    Bill will determine what changes can be implemented.
    Marina will work on the new "Comments & Suggestions" page.

  3. Agenda Review
    #7 was moved up to #4

  4. Placement of Survey
    Esther prepared one prototype as an example of how the survey could be highlighted on the home page. She will prepare new prototypes that incorporate suggestions made at the meeting.
    ACTION: Esther

  5. Models Affan prepared; new sites on campus; our design
    Lots of discussion regarding
    • the placement of the secondary navigation under the primary navigation in the first column versus on the right side in column 3. No decision made. ACTION: Marina will meet with libwebreview members who are discipline librarians to review the navigation issue.
    • printing issues. Should the page print as it appears on the screen? Should the primary navigation be ommitted during printing? Should the page be reformatted for printing? No decision made.

  6. Writing on the Web
    Esther and Marina highlighted sections from sessions they attended on Communicating on the Web (Esther) and Designing for Scent: Why Stinky Sites Work (http://library.usask.ca/~fichter/talks05/ola/2005.01.31.scent.pdf) (Marina).

    All committee members are asked to create a persona/scenario for usability testing. Due: Next meeting. ACTION: All
