Notes for October 27, 2005 Meeting

1) Minutes of Meeting, October 12, 2005
- Accepted with minor corrections made.
2) Business Arising
- Item 4 - Terms of Reference - Marina spoke to Susan. The terms of reference will remain a draft until ISMC's terms of reference are revised. In the meantime, the group can operate as specified in the draft. ACTION: Esther will update the library staff site and create a link to LibWebReview
3) Business Arising from WebOps Meeting
- IRMC will investigate purchasing WorldCat (which would allow us to link to items in Google Scholar).
- Jen Johnson will be teaching her web session on December 7th from 2:30-3:30. Esther will send out a reminder closer to the day.
4) WebOps minutes
- Bill will correct the numbering.
- The text describing the Staff Web purpose needs to be updated. ACTION: Sandra and Rachel volunteered to compose a new description.
5) Agenda Review
- Items 9 and 10 are switched.
6) Give Us Feedback Form
- Marina added a "this is about" section to the form so that questions can be directed to the appropriate staff member in the library. Marina will have LibWebReview copied on these messages. She will speak to WebOps members to see if they would like to remain being copied on the messages.
7) Link to the AV catalogue
- Members discussed linking to the AV Media Catalog and decided to link it on the right navigation menu on the Resources for Research page.
8) Direct Link to Staff Web
- A request to have a direct link into the Staff Web page from the navigation menus was received. Members decided to add this link to the right menu navigation under Resources for Research.
9) TRELLIS Quick Search
- Chris Gray has created a "keyword or phrases" search. Dan will tinker with the layout of this new search and let Chris know when the changes have been made.
10) Branch Library Sites
- UMD has developed its own top level page. Musagetes is considering developing a similar top level page, however we will have to change where Musagetes is currently linked if they do this since they are linked under the About Us section. We will discuss adding a Locations section as a main left navigation item where we can then add UML, Musagetes, and other libraries on campus.
11) Graphics on the Library Web Site
- Marian has created an information page linking to various graphical resources. This information page will be linked on the right navigation menu on the web maintainers site. We will consider working on a mini project to identify places to add images to our site to enhance the look.
12) Library Web Site Survey
- The survey will be moved to the top of the right navigation bar the first week in November. The survey will be delinked December 1st.
