Notes for March 1, 2006 Meeting

1) Minutes of Meeting, Feb. 15, 2006

Accepted.

2) Business Arising

Item 4: Bill reported that statistics collection in Contribute needs to be set up and will quite a difficult task because a new infrastructure needs to be set up for that.  He also indicated that Charles will be able to get SFX statistics. Dan suggested that we proceed with adding a link to the Ejournals page from the Research Databases page and he volunteered to write the text for this page. After discussion about removing subjects from the Ejournals page, Marina suggested we just have a link to "Find E-journal Titles by Subject. ACTION: Bill will implement this and send out a mock-up. ACTION: Bill will add Scholar's Portal link to "Popular Choice" list on Databases page.

Item 5: Dan is waiting for a report from Jennifer that will go to the Managers to get approval before he will add the Scholar's Portal search to his pages.

Item 7: The last CNAC meeting was cancelled, so Dan will take this item to the next scheduled meeting.

Item 8: For the floor plan maps, we are using George Loney's software and it was designed for a single library, so there are complications that Bill is trying to work out. There are also a few glitches with IE that Bill will iron out. It seems to display perfectly in Firefox. ACTION: Dan will make changes to the floor plan page and distribute to the group for discussion at a future meeting.

4) Guidelines for changes to the web site

Christy suggested that we document suggested changes from staff and from LibWebReview in a table. We can periodically devote meetings to looking at suggested changes and make decisions at those meetings. ACTION: Christy will create a table in Contribute and link it to the LibWebReview group's web site.

5) Update to "Resources for Research"

Christy edited the text on this page and will post the changes to the new table for LibWebReview approval.

6) Research Databases and E-journal Titles &
7) More Suggestions

Marina & Dan showed two web sites that use different terminology to describe research databases and ejournal titles. There are also some interesting uses of navigation and a "virtual library tour" on these sites that would be worth evaluating for possible adoption. These links will be added to our table for future discussion.
