Item 2.4: Christy will add to the task table the suggestion to include a link to the Subject Guides from the Research Databases page.

  3. Agenda Review
Add as #6: RSS Feed Preparation
    #7: CSS Changes

  4. Content Management Systems
Using examples from Wikipedia's Comparison of Content Management Systems, Christy provided a general overview of what a content management system can do. Among the benefits are the capability for automatic production of RSS feeds and inclusion of blogging software.

  5. Usability Testing
During our discussion the question was raised about the status of our suggestion to CNAC for a "Quick Poll" on the home page.
ACTION: Esther will resend her initial e-mail (for CNAC) to Dan.
ACTION: Dan will bring this to CNAC again.
ACTION: Rachel will draft possible questions for the poll.

  6. RSS Feed Preparation
Esther demonstrated the process she follows to create the monthly RSS feed for news @ your library. The group would prefer an automatic process.
Currently there is a duplication of efforts as various groups are researching the possibilities within new technologies such as blogs, wikis, and podcasts. Rachel has prepared reports on podcasting and blogs for Mary and she will be presenting these to Library Executive in the near future. WebOps is undertaking a report on blogs, wikis, etc. as well.
ACTION: In the spirit of collaboration, Rachel will ask Mary if she can share her reports with the LibWebReview and WebOps groups, thus reducing the duplication of efforts.

  7. CSS Changes
Esther has been experimenting with and cleaning up the CSS code on the Library's test site. She and Marian Davies are now ready to begin enhancing our site by updating the CSS files.
ACTION: Everyone is asked to send their suggestions for areas that are problematic or need enhancement to Esther and Marian by the next meeting.
Suggestions gathered at the meeting included more differentiation between the heading levels (both screen and print), more attention given to the right navigation, and increased leading.
