    #2. Business Arising. #6. LibX Update: Wolf has updated the UW LibX Firefox extension and Adobe Flash Player plug-in on Davis and Porter conference room machines. Unfortunately, with our current system for updating public workstations, these same plug-ins can not be updated on our public workstations every time new versions become available. In the case of the Adobe Flash Player plug-in, this is rather bothersome as an up-to-date version of the same is usually required for the proper display of MeeboMe widgets and anything else similarly requiring an up-to-date version Adobe Flash Player. The older version of UW LibX Firefox extension.

Flickr/PictoBrowser Library Tour: Having done some preliminary testing, Dan has determined that a free Flickr account should prove adequate for hosting the quantity and type photos required by the proof-of-concept Flickr/PictoBrowser and Flickr/slide.com library tours. Action: Dan, Christy and Rachel will create a project charter and seek their managers' approval to devote time to this. Action: Bill will ask Alan how much authority LibWebReview has in making decisions about what goes on the web site. (E.g., can LibWebReview make the decision as to whether or not it is okay to use Flickr and slide.com on our site?)

  4. Librarians and UW Space (Bill)

    Action: Helena, Esther & Bill will propose a structure for the library portion of our institutional repository.
  5. Web Site Review (Bill)

    Action: Bill will read-up on Information Architecture.
  6. Web Page Review (Esther)

    Some web pages (e.g., certain Library Guides) appear to be out-of-date. Action: Bill will email Jennifer and Shabiran re. out-of-date pages.
  7. ScholarsPortal Quick Search (Dan)

    Help text has been finalized by Sandra, Helena & Dan. Action: Dan will ask Esther to move the page from the wiki to the libtest server. Action: Dan will solicit ISR and other Information desk staff for feedback.
  8. Blogs (Dan)

    Chris has WordPress MU (Multi-User) up and running and the ability to blogs is now available. Chris and Dan have created blogs. Christy, Rachel, Tim, Christine, Doug and Esther have or will be sent an invitation to create blogs. It is hoped that this will lead to additional tire-kicking and the expulsion of any bugs. After some additional tire-kicking has occured, the blogs will be announced to to ISR (at the ISR training retreat session by Dan & Christy).

    Action: Dan will ask Chris re. setting up a 'UW Library' theme (i.e. with UW logo and 'library look'). At the same time, it was suggested that staff be given some freedom in their choice of presentation, plug-ins, widgets, interface architecture, etc.

    Action: Dan will ask Chris re. multiple blogs per person.

    Potential uses identified in to date:
    • RSS feed for Current News
    • Blogs to support podcasts
    • Delievering subject-specific information to patrons
    • Sharing ideas, developments, research, etc. with colleagues within and beyond UW Library.

    Cancelled because of ISR Training Retreat.
