Notes for May 23, 2007 Meeting

  1. Minutes of Meeting, May 9, 2007

    Accepted as written.

  2. Business Arising

    Item 5:     Bill did send an email to the group regarding Google Analytics.

    Item 8: The IE fix is done.

    Item 10: Rachel still needs to draft the CCAE email for Bill to send to all Library staff.

  3. Agenda Review

    Remove CLF Overkill as no. 6.
    Add Quick Polls as no. 6.

  4. Images on Primary Navigation (Dan)

    After viewing several test pages, some members expressed concerns regarding the use of icons to bring attention to specific navigation links due to it being a form of branding that will require consistent use across the website. Other suggestions included highlighting or bolding the navigation links that require more attention. Christy suggested usability testing several test pages using the various navigation options, and also encouraged for others in the group to help with testing. Action: Esther will edit the test pages with the groups' suggestions. Christy and Marian will incorporate these pages into their usability testing at a later date.

  5. TRELLIS Banner (Dan)
    Dan, Marian and Esther have been working on a top button bar for the UW TRELLIS header, containing links to other library services & resources such as "Connect from Home", "Ask a Librarian" and "Journal Articles".  Questions were asked whether this is a LibWebReview project, as well as concerns about the use of icons.

  6. Quick Polls (Esther)

    Chris Gray made more changes to the test page featuring the Quick Poll. The group voted that the quick poll should be featured under the left (main) navigation and wondered if there was anyway to make it look a little different. Action: Bill will respond to Chris Gray's email regarding the quick poll. Esther will help change the look of the quick poll on the test site. Dan will email the quick poll questions to the group to be reviewed at our next meeting.

  7. Davis Library Podtour (Dan)

    Dan, Christy, and Rachel have worked on creating audio “Pod Tours” for the Davis and Porter Libraries. Dan has now recorded the audio for the Davis Library Pod Tour and asked the group to listen to it when they have the opportunity. He will also solicit feedback from Davis ISR and LINC.  He is also looking into how the audio could be combined with photos as an enhanced mp3 file.

  8. Current News Blog (Esther & Rachel)

    Esther and Rachel have worked on creating a blog space for the Library's Current News. The RSS feed and feed to the Library's home page works. Esther is now looking into modifying the blog space to incorporate elements of the library web's CLF.

  9. Around the Table

    Christy     asked if anyone from the group handled the most recently received "give us feedback" form question. Action: Bill will look into how, who, and when these questions will be answered by the group.

    Christy also mentioned that the link to the new online floor plans (Where Is It?) is somewhat buried. Action: Christy will email Sandra (LINC chair) to see if this link can be added to the How Do I...? web.

    Dan reported that Bill and Charles will be speaking to Wayne Johnston at UG to see how our Library plans can be linked to from TRELLIS.
