1. ORIENTATION update
Posters have been printed but 50 additional copies will be made.
Yet to be printed are the flyers for Data base searching, walking tour,
and display.
- Kiosk displays almost done. There will be a weekly feature display. They
will be similar displays in Davis and Porter, except that Porter will have
a map.
- Packages of flyers etc are being prepared by Richard Hastings. These are
to be sent to the dons.
- Campus posters will be displayed for 2 two-week runs.
- Church colleges will receive packages containing posters, flyers, hours
cards and bookmarks.
- TRELLIS poster and other advertisements will most likely be done by the
PR team. Something similar might be needed for Davis.
ACTION: Jane will check with Mary Stanley.
- ACTION: Linda will place a flyer in the mailbox of each librarian, and
an e-mail will be sent to all saying that flyers are available in the
Dept.
- ACTION: Yulerette will have orientation flyers placed at the Davis circ
desk
- ACTION: Linda will have additional miniguides printed for Porter Circ
desk.
- Bookmarks will be placed at the library attendants' desks.
- ACTION: Linda will prepare an orientation website. Will include a
calendar with links to full description of programs, and a reproduction
of the brochure. A by-date-list of events will be sent to Imprint.
- Sandwich board will be explored by Linda. Permission from Murray might
be necessary and Mary Stanley will also be contacted.
- General tours are in place. Slots are yet to be filled. Alex and
Susan will be asked to help in the recruitment of volunteers in Porter.
- ACTION: Yulerette will recruit volunteers to offer TRELLIS demos in
Davis.
2. TRELLIS help materials.
Jane is taking care of the TRELLIS help but is held back somewhat by the
delay in the OPAC fixes that are yet to come.
Map would be helpful for directing clients to other libraries.
ACTION: Linda will create mock-ups of some maps for review.
ACTION: Anne F will submit to TUG-Proto team a recommendation that a web
page be created to notify the user of the TRELLIS features that are not
working well.
3. NEW FACULTY EVENT
Agreed that this be postponed until post-Thanksgiving.
Matter will be brought to Deptal Ref meetings to discuss the scope - all
faculty or just new faculty, etc.
ACTION: Ann N. will check on availability of ICR lounge in mid October.
ACTION: Linda to prepare an example of a welcome card for new faculty.
ACTION: Anne F. will send list of new faculty to each librarian for each
to act upon.
4. LIBRARY STAFF COFFEE
ACTION: Ann N. will check on menu choices - including some healthy fare.
Also will look into the use of the UMD courtyard for the event.
ACTION: Linda will prepare a volunteer thank-you card design for review.
5. STUDENT LIFE 101
ACTION: Yulerette to provide feedback to organiizers.
Agreed that the Q&A session was a greater success than last year's.
Room temperature could have been better.
Location of Library display was disappointing.
Lighting a bit dull.
